Outlandish shipping fees and taxes charged after shipping not before Los Angeles California

I have done business with Bidz.com on several occasions. While you can get the jewelry cheaper at times, sometimes the quality is poor. Particularly on Sterling items. I have received several oxidized items over the course of time doing business. Trying to do a return was more trouble and costly than it was worth, so I just ate the cost of that item as it could not be resold or given as a gift.

Perhaps the worst travesty is their Billing practices. You think you are getting such a great deal because you won jewelry or fine art for the great buy, then comes the shipping. Their shipping is outrageous.

If you buy jewelry. Your first item shipping price is $10.95. Each additional item is $3.00 and they ship it to you all in the same cheap padded envelope. Often times the items aren't even in boxes, they're in bags offering little to no protection from damage, and certainly not worth the cost of shipping.

To top it off, they charge taxes after they have factored the shipping. So their taxes are off the chain. Here is an example of their tactics copied straight from an order:
Merchandise
$137.00

Discount
$0.00

Shipping
$49.95

Tran. Fee
$5.61

Subtotal
$192.56

Tax
$15.89

Total: $208.45

So, the $137.00 in merchandise I purchased, suddenly became $208.45 because of their ridiculous shipping fees and taxes after the fact.

I'm sorry, but when you ship in the same envelope, shipping should not be that high. And when the items come in cheap BIDZ bags half the time inside the envelope and are not in protective boxes, this does not warrant the amount of shipping charged either.

I believe a class action law suit is in order for reimbursement of shipping charges.

Sincerely
