I went to the store in August asking about scuba dive certification and told them how I was a uni student and had little time. I was told that the sale was ending that weekend and if I didn't get it now the price would go up. I also mentioned that I could not do consecutive weekends for the classes. I was told that it was fine and they could get me in anywhere between a week to six months. So I took my first two classes, one in the classroom the other in a pool. The classes "included" four open water dives.
I called in for weeks to do my open water dives and they were always full. They would not allow me to schedule a class ahead of time. I could only call in the day before dives to see if there was an opening. They were never open, and its now about dec and the price for the class is the same. Its a lie and false advertising! I have a job and I go to uni not to mention iIam studying abroad. Now I am about to go back to the states and i am still not certified. They knew all this and took advantage of me. Thats what they do they get americans and poor university students who want to get certified and tell them no worries well do it and then they take your money and don't care the slightest.
The owner looked me in the eyes and said she didn't care a bit. Not only was she quite rude but was also condesending. She even refered to me being a moron. She said to my face that she is well aware of this and they know there is no openings. They sell the classes knowing very well that if you do not do it all at once you will never get to do it. They have you sign a contract so that no refunds can be made.
When I bought the classes I said that I could not do two weekends in a row and I was told it would be fine, now the manager is saying oh we tell people its strongly not advised. I was never told this, I was told it would be fine. Quit naturally when I told this to the owner she said she stands by her employee and she would never say that. They say one thing, the contract says another. Then the owner tried to say the only way I could complete the class was if iIpaid them more money to schedule a class or hire a private teacher. Can you belive that?
Not to mention they give you this long talk about how its bad to share masks and they don't do it so you really should but your own and then they sell you $150 masks and snorkle. So what use to be $295 is now $450. Its a ripoff!
I just wanted to get certified since I am a conservation major and I know I will need it later to conduct research and help animals. Now I am returning to the states empty handed and out of $150, since I only got half of what I paid for. Not to mention the amount of stress and how much iIhave been offended, it has made part of my time in Australia absolutly miserable.
