I too am a victim of this money scam by UOP or Axia College. I feel so stupid sometimes... But then I think that most of the representatives are professional scam artists, very good at getting people's money!
I was unsure if I wanted to attend the UOP or Axia because of time constraints and let them know this very clearly. A couple of weeks later I get an email telling me that classes start on Monday and all the finances have been covered and not to worry about anything out of pocket.
I then spoke with my advisor about my strict work schedule and told him again that I was very concerned about the time I would have to complete the given assignments. He assured me that it would never take more than maybe two hours a week to complete. Repeatedly he assured me of this. So I agreed to attend classes not thinking I would be totally consumed each day making sure such ridiculously brainless assignments were done. The assignments were not hard but were very time consuming, trying to figure out if everything was done appropriately and waiting to hear back from teachers and what not. I was not looking forward to something like this nor did I have the time to.
I began getting upset about it about 2 weeks into the first classes as the daily assignments would take longer. Well I tried to contact my advisor about dropping and letting him know I could not do this now and of course he never responded. This made me very angry considering this person was supposed to walk me by my hand through the first nine weeks at least... And now he was not even returning phone calls after the first two weeks!
But I kept turning in assignements late or missed a few which is rare for me in the "real" college I attend. So I became even more frustrated and just quit bc noone was helping me by this point. My grades were already failing in such ridiculously stupid classes to top it all off bc they were late... Causing the grade to be lower. After I quit. I tried contacting someone and they finally called back and asked what happened and I told them.
I told them that the original advisor had lied about how long it would take and the fact that he did not tell me that there were weekend assignments due each week, which was the main time I was at work. Along with the overtime I was having to work during the week. But they kept passing me on to the next person until I finally spoke with someone that said they were going to try and work with me. False prmises of course. I got so tired of repeating myself I just quit contacting them.
Of course after they told me they were going to look more into the matter. I never heard from them until about 6 months later. And then it was a collection agency harassing me daily. I had to turn my phone off during vacation to avoid the stress of that! Whew! I have never had bad debt in my life and would have been more willing to pay if UOP or Axia was willing to take half of the responsiblity. But now I am out $824 of my pocket right now and another $800 fully deferred student loan lingering over my head for future repayment. Only to remind me of what a sucker I was for this scam! I hope someone gets to the bottom of this. I usually am one to take responsiblity for my wrong actions... But this was not my fault and I would like someone that knows how... To get to the bottom of this matter that knows how! I am definitely in on it!
