In July I got a new telephone number. I immediately began receiving phone calls from Central Portfolio Control regarding a person named "Hiroshi". I explained to them that my number was new and that I do not know the person they are looking for. They told me they would delete the number and not call again.
Between July and today I have continued to receive 3-4 calls a day on an average of 3 days a week from this collection agency. Most of the time I let them roll into voice mail, and they never leave a message. Ihave told them several times that I am not "Hiroshi" and they continue to call.
On September 24, at 11;45 am I received yet another call - a man identified himself as "John" demanded to speak to "HIroshi" I explained the situation (again) and told him never to call here again and hung up. He immediately called back and when I picked up the phone he scremaed "Don't you ever hang up on me again you f*king b*tch or I will come over there and kick your *ss" and then scremaed "give me his number" over and over. I scremaed back and hung up.
He called two more times - I let those calls go into voice mail and he didn't leave a message. I was, and still am, extremely upset. I called the company back about an hour later, got "john" and asked to speak to the manager he put me through to a woman that identified herself as "Jennifer" and explained the situation to her and she states "I'll telll you what I am going to do" and slammed the phone down (hung up on me).
I have filed a report with the FTC, Minnesota Department of Commerce and the Do Not Call Registry. I am in the Process of filing a report with ACA International in Minnesota (of which Central Portfolio COntrol is a member) and am alos going to file a report with the Minnesota Attorney General's office.
I also called the local police department and explained that I had been threatened by someone at the company, and the officer that took my phone call called and spojke with Rob BArrett at Centrla Portfolio COntrol - he confirmed witht he officer that the person they're looking for IS NOT me and promised that my number would be deleted. I seriously doubt that is going to happen.
I need help! What are my options? Can I sue them? Can I find an attorney that will take my case without having to spend a fortune? Help!!
