Class action suit? Sounds like a plan but where can we unite? To answer some of Donalds' questions... Yes, I have more than 24 credits as a matter of fact I have 60 credits and as far as I know UoP has never requested any of my transcripts. I was enrolled in the Human Resources Management Certificate program which consisted of 6 classes, that were 5 weeks in length and were each worth a total of 3 credit hours. The cost of each class was $1552.00 (if my memeory serves me correctly), and the Resource fee was $75.00 for each class.
These fees totaled are $9,763.00. What the university failed to do was to explain to me how they came up with an out of pocket expense of almost $5000.00 when they had not yet certified my financial aid packet, why they were reneging on their original agreement and why I wasn't informed at the time of enrollment (despite all of the times I asked) the cost of the courses needed to obtain the certification.
I am not independently wealthy, which is why I was very concerned about the financial aid process in the first place. I recently made some BIG ticket purchases and was and am not in the position to spend extravagant amounts of money to obtain a questionable certification. Oh I received a call today from you know who and surprise, surprise by the time the conversation was over they cut my out of pocket expense to well under $3000.00. GO FIGURE! Maybe I'll take it and maybe I wont. Any thoughts?
