I was at college in the career center at the college I attended, where I saw an ad for the disney college program. Yhe ad provided that there was going to be a recruiter at my school doing a presentation and interviews for the disney college internship program.
I attended the presentation, where they told me I would be provided a dormitory and pay. They told us that all we needed was transportation to and from disney and they would provide the rest.
When I arrived they told me that I would be responsible for my first two weeks meals and I would not be paid for over two weeks.
I worked there and began having a medical problem which limited my ability to stand. I talked about it with my supervisor and asked of they could accomidate me in any way.
I saw a physician at my own expense who demanded work restrictions and told me my semptoms would become more severe if they didn't comply with the restrictions he prescribed. I produced documentation of these restrictions to the company's Office of Health Services (formerly known as First Aid).
She refused to help me in any way. A few days after refusing to accomodate me, my feet swelled up so severely that I needed immediate medical attention. I was told that I could not leave my workstation to get to the emergency room or the company first-aid, or I would be fired. At the end of my shift I needed assistance walking out and needed a wheelchair to get in the medical center where my fiance' rushed me to. The emergency physician told me not to dare go back to work for a few days.
I was told the next day I could work, I was suspended untill monday, when I had an appointment with HR. I was actually fired, but rather than saying it they lead me to beleive I was suspended for nearly four days. This wasted my time as I could have been seeking other work.
Besides this wreckless disregard for my safety, They also "Turn a blind eye to wild carousing that occours within the dormitorys. Our dormitories were routinely inspected, and though my roomates had a beer funnel in the living room nobody ever removed it or even asked any questions to my roomates (one of whom consumed over twelve beers daily.)
Also parents, you may be denied visitation to your children when you visit.
They will also kick your child out on the street with less than a day's notice if "the program dosn't work out for them (which it dosn't for most") wheather or not you have been able to make arrangements to get them home on 12 hours notice!
Also women are not allowed to carry mace. If caught they will be kicked out of their dorm (WITH A FEW HOUR'S NOTICE) and fired.
