You have got to be kidding me! My wife and I just finished up a lease with Brewer Caldwell and I can tell you that this whole experience has been nothing but a living hell! Luckily we found a house through a private owner who allowed us to start moving stuff in to our new place before we were slated to move in. So we were coming to the end of our lease with BC and had the new place. We moved majority of our stuff with a Uhaul, but couldn't fit everyting so we had to use our SUV to move our remaining items. Due to the fact that our new place was well over 35 miles from the BC property we had to move the remaining items in waves often after work. So we were staying in between places from time to time.
Long story short, BC took it upon themselves to enter the house, chage the locks and the maintenance guy stole our stuff!!! We came to the house to pick up the rest of our belongings and to do a final clean up, and we found that the house was in shambles and or things were taken! We naturally called the police and they investigated the property where they found that they changed the locks and very personal items were taken. Here is just a list of items that were taken: My wife's wedding dress, shoes and vail, my kids Disney DVD player and tv, my keyboard, surrond sound system, my hair clippers, gift cards, my wife's make up and perfume, weights, computers and several other items. The police officer spoke with our neighbors and they confimed that they saw and even spoke with the man that took our stuff. They even provided a description of the man. So after the police gathered their evidence, the next day we went down to the BC office and told them what had happended and described the guy and they knew excatly how we were talking about. We also asked why they had changed the locks when we were still under our lease agreement. They said that we abandoned the house which is untrue seeing as my wife called and notified the office that we were gradually moving things from the old house to the new one. They also claimed they knew nothing about our stuff being taken.
My wife spoke with one of the leasing agents, and she said that we could get our stuff from the maintenece superivsor. When we spoke to her, she kept saying that BC didn't have our stuff and said that the neighbors didn't know what they were talking about. So I'm a week into this and I still don't have my belongings back and the guy that took our stuff says he didn't take anyting. Naturally BC is standing behind this guy even thought at least five people say the saw this guy taking our stuff! This is not over by a long shot and I will take this as far as I need to. If there are any lawyers that read this and would like to discuss this matter with me, please contact me ASAP!!! And for people dealing with BC or thinking about it... Stay away from Brewer Caldwell!!! Do not become another victim of this so called company. They will lie, cheat and even steal from you!
