Fiberoptic.com is marketing a one week training program for $6,000 to laid-off workers in the region. The $6,000 just happens to the maximum amount that the Lehigh County Career Link can pay for retraining for laid-off workers.
The company does not require any backgroud or previous training to take the one week course that will, of course, "Prepare you for a high-paying career."
For $6,000 a person can pay for a two-year degree from either of the community colleges in the area.
The company claims to be the training arm of Kutztown University, one of Pennsylvania's state universities.
