The Company FreeLotto.com or Plasmanet inc which has a postal address at grand central station New York is a very sophisticated scam Do not be taken in. Firstly be aware that even an American consumer protection website lists them as genuine they are that good!
This is how they scam people. They place an advertisement on another web site that is in the form of a pop up. It will say that you are a certain number visitor to that web site and that you have won a prize. When you click on this to collect the prize you are taken to the FreeLotto.com website. Then you enter some numbers and answer a question which is supposedly from an advertiser or marketing company.in my case the sample question was does anyone in your household smoke. I answered no. Had I answered yes no doubt I would have received an offer of cuban cigars at a discount price. (would this be genuine? I dont know but I suspect not)
Then I received an e mail saying congratulations I have won a prize and in the e mail my prize waa in the form of a gift certificate for fifty US dollers discount on travel booked via a certain internet company. The next day I received an e mail saying that I had won one million US dollers in one lottery. 300 US dollers in another and ten thousand US dollers in another.
When you click on the claim prize section you are taken to a web page in which you have to enter further numbers for a series of lotteries AND GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS. Well if I have already won why should I need to pay money to be able to claim my winnings. Especially since this is supposed to be a free lottery!
Ok so I send them some e mails and get automatically generated replies. Whilst at the same time continueing to receive e mails saying I HAVE WON ONE MILION US DOLLERS. Eventually I get an e mail saying O you havent won this the claim prize and submit your credit card details is an advertisement. Yet I still continue getting e mails clearly stating that I have won one million dollers. So even if this lottery is by the remotest chance legal they are operating in a way that is clearly designed to decieve people. I am now certain however that they are not genuine.
What they do when you give them your credit card details is to not only deduct one months fee for thier s upposed lottery but charge you for a year or more they may also take out the maximum that they can on your card. I can not confirm this but reports from people who have given them credit card details seem to indicate that this is the case.in addition I suspect that what they do is pay out small sums of money to people so that they can get their photographs etc to place on their web site to lure in other victims.
YOU CAN COMPLAIN IF YOU DO A SEARCH ON GOOGLE UNDER FBI you will find a link to an american government FBI site called internet crime reporting centre or something like that. You can then lodge an official complaint with the authorities who will take action against these people. So please do that. Also lets all get together and sue them for the money that they say we have won.
SAVE ALL THIER E MAILS AND PRINT THEM OUT SO THAT THE INTERNET CRIME CENTRE CAN HAVE HARD COPIES FOR ANY COURT CASE DO NOT DESTROY THEM OR DELETE THEM. Also contact VISA AND MASTERCARD HEAD OFFICE and complain why are you allowing a company that is operating fraudulantly to use your services so that they can rip off people. So lets start a class action suit against them as well because they are not doing enough to protect thier customers and prevent companies from using visa mastercard etc fraudulantly
