Perfume distribution scam

Southwest Marketing is Now ATR MANAGEMENT!!!
BEWARE they now have ads in the Houston Chronicle!

I have been looking to get a better job than I have now and I have been applying for jobs in the local news paper. One that seemed perfect said: Admin Asst will train.

I then called and talked to an upbeat man about the job, he asked me questions about my current job and then said I sounded like a great fit and to fax my resume this was on a friday. I then faxed it and heard from a very nice girl that I could come in for an interview on Tuesday.

To prepare for my interview I searched online to see what the company was all about. I couldn't find ONE thing about it on the WORLD WIDE WEB! I then had a friend call and ask a lot of questions for me. She said that they have been in Houston for 3 yrs and originated out of dallas before that for about 15 yrs. That the position paid 30,000 to $35,000 a yr. I was excited.

I showed up for the interview on a Tues. And I met with a MARVIN SEAY. Than I was put into a room with a bunch of chairs and magazines. I filled out an app. Than I was immediatly called into his office. He was super nice (fake!), dressed sharp, and acted like he really liked me, the interview was extremely short, he said he would call back the top 10% back for a second interview and they would hear from him by 6:00.

So far things that were suspicious: Marvin was really young to have his own office, his teeth were an awful gray/black color (I just think a proffesional would have that fixed!)

I got a call from them but I couldn't answer it due to the fact that I was in another interview. When I checked my message it said congratulations you are chosen for a second interview, I called back and the interview was Thursday at 12:00, be 15 min early and bring a notepad-the interview would be 2 1/2 hours long.

More things suspicious: Who says congratulations for an interview? Also TWO AND A HALF HOURS! NOTES???

They than called me to comfirm the next day!
I went in on thurday and noticed that Heather was waiting outside. I went in and I was immediatly ushered to a room with about 10-14 people in it. There was a crappy dry-erase board on the wall. HEATHER CLINE was in the room with a little boom box playing chatting non stop about stupid things like pets, kids, etc. As soon as MARVIN SEAY started the "interview" that was really like a college lecture I knew this wasn't right.
He introduced HEATHER CLINE as his assistant and had us write notes on the BACKGROUND, QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, PAY/BENIFITS.

They talked about the perfumes being the EXACT same designer fragrances but not in the fancy package.
About how we wouldn't have to sell them, about HANDS ON TRAINING. This is where they lost me!
We would make commision during the first week supposedly so that we could be good managers.
OH Yeah! It is no longer an Administrative Assistant job that I originally applied for it was now a Manager possition to have our own offices.

More Suspicious things: 100% Benefits!!! Mandatory vacations, no company is going to pay you commission pay to train you for an office manager position. You CANNOT ask questions during this lecture.

Marvin then left and called one guy out of the room, came back 2 min. Later called 3 people, than about 3 or 4 more, than came back in to talk to the remaining 4 people. He said we were his top pick for the FAST TRACK training and not to tell the other people. And he told us to start mon. @ 10:30 A.M. For 2 hours for orientation. We were walked outside.

I went home searched the internet for: Marvin Seay, Heather Cline, perfume distribution and boy was there a lot of info!!! I printed out 7 pages and made 7 copies and highlighted them! I went in on Monday and was told I would be a entry level manager trainee. I acted like nothing was wrong, waited for the orientation to be over and then when we were being walked out I handed the papers out to all the YOUNG WOMEN (18-25 YRS) that were in orientation. Explained what was happening, jumped in my car and took off. Boy were thos scam artists freaking out! Think GOD I didn't quit my job. I have 2 kids and a mortgage and they wanted me to quit. Another girl had a 7 month old baby!
