On Friday, May 5, my parents received a letter from Northern Leasing Systems, Inc. Of NYC, addressed to my mother, saying she owed them money to the tune of $5000 for some kind of contract with Signtronix for leasing a sign and threatening legal action if she did not pay. My mother NEVER rented a sign from Signtronix or had any dealings with Northern Leasing Systems. They don't even have her correct social security # so they have the wrong lady.
My Dad called the company to say they had the wrong person and the wrong ss# and they asked for the #. My dad said he would not give it to them. He suspected a scam. Today (5/10/06) they received a letter from the supposed legal firm connected with Northern
Leasing Systems, asking for a police report
and asking for copies of her passport, drivers license and one other form of I.D. With all kinds of questions about contracts, etc.
My parents have nothing to do with this company at all. They are not in business and do not lease signs. They don't live in the state that the suppposed sign was rented in and have nothing to do with the company that was advertised on the sign. They are retired and have NEVER been in small business or business owners. I advised them to go to the local police station in the morning and have the detectives look into this. I then did some research on the web and found all these reports about this company and how they are related to fraudulent contracts, etc.
Wondering if anyone else has been "mistakenly" contacted by this company.
