RIPOFF Misrepresentation of Product

After calling on an ad in the paper for Administrative Assistants, I was told by the operator that the number had changed to a "1-800" extension. The ad specifically quoted "above average compensation" and "great benefits."

I had to pay $83.95 to order a package that the operator from Ordian promised me would contain names of companies that they had worked with who needed admins to do data entry from home. I questioned this operator (Irene Davis) extensively about the program. She also told me that the companies would take out the taxes and pay me on a weekly basis. There was no mention of contracting or needing a Federal Identification Number. She assured me that the package would be delivered in two weeks.

After two weeks, and I did not have the package, I called them back. They will only let you speak to the person with whom you originally worked with; although, she told me that I had to talk to customer service now. I was transferred to Alley in customer service, and she offered to send me out another package Priority Mail 3-day. Whelp, I didn't get that either... So, I called Alley back. She told me to wait a few more days - and it did finally come.

What I found was a paperback book entitles "Make MONEY with Your Computer, " a black floppy full of different companies, an SS-4 application for Employer Identification Number, and a recommended guidance sheet stating that I needed to send my resume to all these companies asking if they needed contractors. The disclaimer states that one is not allowed to mention Ordian to any of the potential employers and that the companies were chosen by a number of methods including internet, third party suppliers and response from mailings. It also specifically stated "DO NOT JUST CALL THE COMPANIES WITHOUT FIRST MAILING YOUR RESUMES."

I have personally worked for companies on this list, and I KNOW they do not contract. This is just ridiculous. I am calling today to ask for my refund, but it is my understanding from other complaints that I may not ever see it. I am contemplating contacting our local channel 10 regarding this farce.
