While browsing the internet a "pop-up" appeared inviting me to enter my cell phone number for a free text message from dadamobile.com. After receiving the "free" text message (a moron joke) I noticed that I had to send them a text message with the word "STOP" (to 63232) in order to cancel my "subscription." Even though I hadn't "subscribed" to anything, I sent the STOP message as they required. The text message would not "send." I then went to their web site and attempted to contact them using their "contact us" link. I received only a "thank you for your inquiry" letter in return with no further info on how I could contact this company.
I attempted to send STOP to 63232 7 different times over three days before I received verification via text message that my subscription had been cancelled. Three additional moron jokes were sent to my phone during this time.
Four days later I received my cell phone bill.in addition to my normal charges, Dadamobile billed my cell phone for one "ringtone" download at $9.99 and four text messages at 10 cents each for a total of $10.39. Since my cell phone does not support "ringtone" downloads on the internet, (it's an older Motorolla V60) and since I did not subscribe nor want Dadamobile's service, I felt compelled to dispute these charges.
I have e-mailed a letter of dispute to Dadamobile on two seperate occasions and have not received a reply.in addition, I've contacted Verizon Wireless to inform them that I'm disputing the charges by Dadamobile. Verizon Wireless claims there is nothing they can do... They don't have anything to do with Dadamobile, and that I must dispute the charges with Dadamobile. (Yeah, right!)
I informed Verizon Wireless that I'm sending payment for my cell phone bill... Less the $10.39 in dispute from Dadamobile. Verizon Wireless then informed me that I may be subject to "Late Fees" if I don't send payment IN FULL! Now wait just a minute... How can Verizon Wireless charge me late fees for not paying a company they have nothing to do with? Can Verizon also charge me late fees for not paying my vet bill on time? Verizon claims they can charge me because I was using their "airtime" for these transactions. My response to Verizon is that "I" wasn't using their airtime... DADAMOBILE was using their airtime... Collect from them! I'm awaiting closure on this matter from Dadamobile and Verizon... And will keep you posted. If anyone has any ideas on how to expedite this... Please let me know.
