I am trying to close my account for a credit card which I payed in full few months ago. I cancelled all the automatic charges made on that account so that I can have $0 balance for an entire billing cycle (required for closing the account).
Impossible! I keep receiving monthly statements with charges on my credit card and on this statement there is a charge of $7.00 for some "reservation rewards". Since I didn't know what was that, I thought it was a "service" provided by the credit card company to continue to take some money from me.
I was curious to find out more about this kind of "service" for which 7 dollars a month seems quite expensive, and making a search on the internet I was shoked to discover this scheme of "reservation rewards" rip-off.
Reading about other people's experiences I knew for sure that I never used a company or website offering "free" anything, knowing that nothing is really for free, not to mention buying movie tickets online!!! (Whenever I go to the movies, maybe 3 times in half a year I always pay with cash).
What's interesting is that the next day after I reported the credit card company on this site usacomplaints.com I received the FIRST e-mail from reservationrewards.com, with my "member benefit update". These people are quite shameless.
And they also "improved" their services for their victims/customers, having a distinct section of "Credit Card Fraud Protection"!!!
If someone reads this page carefully can see that these crooks admit what they're doing and try to cover their backs.
Quote from their website: "To qualify for Credit Card Fraud Protection coverage, you must notify us promptly upon loss or illegal use of your credit or debit card (s).* We will accept full responsibility for your liability for all fraudulent charges to your lost cards from the moment you notify us of the loss/theft of your cards. This liability coverage applies only to fraudulent charges that occur while you are a Member of this service. Also, this coverage is in addition and subordinate to any coverage provided by your card providers and your other insurance carriers." (Please don't report us to FBI's Internet Fraud site or press criminal charges against us).
Anyway, this is the next step if they won't cancel my "membership".
