American Intercontinental University Online
Veterans beware, The mind is a terrible thing to Waste, and so is our hard earned money. Ripoff

I recently retired from the military after 23 years. I decided that I wanted to go back to school for a while, before going back to work. I applied for what was supposed to be a "Military Friendly School". One of the choices I was offered was American Intercontinental University Online. I decided to go with this University, because it had an Information Technology Program that I was interested in. I was contacted by a student advisor and the process began. I had to submit an entry essay to be accepted.

After I was accepted, there were numerous other forms I had to fill out based on the information I provided. One of the forms I had to fill out was VA FORM 22-1990. This is a form that Veterans fill out in order to be considered for Government Money. My form was completed and on file with the school by 08/27/05.

Based on the financial advisors calculations, I was to receive $5,886.00 in VA benefits for tuition. Prior to school beginning on 10/09, I called the school to confirm that my VA benefits had been approved. I was told that they had, and the money would be paid directly to the school.

I had not received any official notification from the main office in ST. Louis, MO, but I took the school at its word. I completed two semesters at AIU, before I discovered that my VA benefits had been denied, and that my tuition would not be paid for. I contacted the VA office in St. Louis, right after the Christmas Holidays and was informed that my benefits were denied back in September and that the school had been notified. I feel that the Advisor of the school did not look out for my best interest.

Had I known about the denied funds back in September, I would have withdrawn prior to the class starting in October. I feel this school has bad business practices and there primary concern is to rip off unsuspecting students. I feel the tuition balance should be written off and not affect my good credit standings. There are many other students who have had similar problems with this institution.

I hope all our complaints will be taken into consideration, and upon thorough investigation, this school can be removed as an accredited University.
