I am writing this report to warn others not to finance with this company.in addition, to the many other complaints listed it would be in your best interest to stay as far away from Greentree-Greenpoint as possible. Reasons? Many.
I have dealt with this company for five long years. As soon as I am in the position to refinace I will. They constantly harass you. It doesn't matter if it's before your payments due, the due date, or in your grace period or just plain if your in arrears.
They have at least six different locations that I'm aware of that apparently they are not aware what the other one is doing. They all call. You can call and talk to a rep on the same day and be given a different amount. One employee even confessed there's all kinds of hidden charges they get away with since they get away with it. His only advice was to refinance too. He was leaving the comopany because he said it was getting to him how they did people. He was one out of propably hundred's I have had to deal with.
My privacy act was violated and I was told rep now had it on her file but nothing was done to her. She gave a total stranger that was at my house who answered my phone all my personal account information (Which wasn't even correct by me). So, much for not releasing to third-parties your personal information. Even had cell phone's record option proving her stating she wasn't supposed to be giving out information.
I even wrote corporate. Besides, for this I have problems receiving statements from same company different locations with different amounts owed. I just found out I was being charged taxes which I didn't owe that they just happened to add on without notifying me first. I had mortgage forced insurance for awhile. I purchased my own individual insurance and have continued to be charged their insurance. I have faxes for evidence I have sent insurance coverage of my own. But, getting credit is another story. I have been late on my payments. But, don't make the mistake I did and send in partial payments.
Big mistake! They hold the amounts until whole payment is sent in. You get no credit. Plus, additional charges are always accruing. You question them and as you have read with other complaints you get no response. I have tried even sending certified letters, faxes, and emails to no avail. Due to divorce I a year ago filed a chapter 13 consolidation. Like others on this site.
This company does not file the rules! I now have an attorney who helps fight them every month. But it's draining. I too. Have a pay-off amount indicated that is highing then orginally amount borrowed after 5 years. This company has no stops. I keep copies of everything. I currently have five different statements with five different amounts owed.
Funny thing is they even on this last one have me a payment that I didn't even send. Wonder which poor soul is going to come up late this month due to that error??? I know it's not my insurance or tax credit it's much more than that. Unless, there are trying to screw me again. I have had their lawyers (never the same one) take me to at least four different hearings. My attorney keeps going in there. Last time their rep didn't even show up.
I have read complaints on this site due untolerable reps harassing their children. Well, my daughter and boyfriend was told they was coming out to take pictures one day because they were selling my house. They were so upset they come to my work. Hopefully, you never have to deal with a rep named "Mary Butler". She is still there. Even after I was turned over to the bankruptsy department they still flag my account wrong sometimes and she still ends back up with my account.
This makes me furious. They've told me personally they've screwed up. No one knows what the other one's doing. Payments I encourage to do through your bank. I am glad I do this now online. That way it's done automatically. They still try to come up with new charges though. Never send partial payments you might as well send the whole payment two weeks late your still going to be paying out the butt!
I feel for anyone else who was suckered in. I feel sorry for my attorney. The legal assistant can provide evidence getting a breakdown of what they're saying you owe supposedly is like pulling teeth! Good Luck!
