I recently received an email with the topic "with due respect". The man stated that he was a lawyer and close friend to the deceased, who was supposed to be my relation, and promised me that I had inherited a large sum of money, $10,200.000.
I then took all the peperwork that Mr. Smith had sent me, to the police station. I had a feeling that this was a scam, and I was right.
Now the bank "Gulf Bulding Society" is contacting me, and wanting $5000.00 to process the paperwork on their end. I did not fall for this scam! I did research on the computer to see if I could find such people and banks. They are not there.
If anybody gets a suspicious email from anybody, please do some research first. If you can't find aything, take it to the police station for davice on what to do.
Also, if you get a check from an unknown person, do not cash it. It is probably counterfit. It is very hard to tell a scam check from a legitamate check. People beware.
