On January 8 I received a call from a company saying they were Common Grant Information Guide. Stating that my college age daughter had qualified to receive a guaranteed grant for a minimum $8,000.00 to a maximum $25,000.00 The operator stated that we'd qualify because we had paid our income taxes for the past years. This was a one time life opportunity.
After the first operator was unable to acquire my account, information a second male operator was put on the line. He quoted my bank routing number and was very persistent. All had heavy Asian accents. Each escalation was to what they refer to as a floor supervisor and continually argued they were a legitimate company.
They refused to give you any telephone contact information until we'd had verified your routing and account number with their computer and said yes to a $257.00 charge. That would be deducted from the checking account on January 18.
After declining they called back several times trying to convince us to confirm the information. Finally, the last operator said the name of the company was Government Grant Information Guide. We had try to find the Common Grant Information Guide on Goggle. It had not come up but when the final operator gave the name Government Grant Information Guide as the company name Goggle immediately identified the company as a rip-off.
