Answerd an ad from Amac chihuahuas. Her ad then and still reads that her chihuahua puppies come with AKC registration papers, Current Vaccinations, Veterinarian Certificate of health, and of course! Health Gaurantee. She advertized my female I bought as a real Beauty make a nice pet or Breeder. 650.00 us. Ad also says she can be flown for 150.00. She advertises that she sells her friend Betty's puppies as well. Ran an ad with a male a few days after the female but told me it was her friend Betty's but they work together on their breeding program.
I purchased the female and sent her 650.00 us plus 150.00 us via Western Union. Needed the money fast because she wanted to send her that up coming weekend. The day before puppy was to shipped she notified me that she had to wait a week because some kind of worms or something showed up and the vet wanted to be sure. Decided to buy the male because I told her and Betty that I was a new breeder starting out and was looking to purchase 3 females and a good male. Thought it would be better to ship them together and it would save on another airfare and journey. Wanted a breeder I could trust and work with. Annalee told me I needed to send the money for the male right away because she has had so many emails regarding the purchase of these puppies, and she already had him at her house.
I sent Annalee another 600.00 us within a couple of days. We made arrangements to pick up the puppies at Seattle Sea Tac Airport so we had to drive about 3 hours. Puppies arrived safe and seemed healthy. I called Annalee from the Airport to let her know that all was well and that I would call her in about a week. I did not get my puppies registration papers as stated in her ad, or a health gaurantee. Just the vet health certificate of the vaccines and such. We spoke nearly everyday or emailed for about 1 1/2 weeks prior to getting my puppies. I thought I really new her. When she said she was a teacher, I thought I was dealing with someone that had some knowledge and integrity.
Well 3 days later the male pup got ill and was in the hospital on IV fluids and medicine, the female was taken to hospital 2 days later. They both had the same symtoms. Depressed, Vomiting, Diareah. Little male whom I loved dearly was extremely ill. After a long struggle he passed away the following Sunday. We were sick over this. Now we still had the female to watch out for. She seemed to respond better to treatment. If my sister wasn't a vet tec at that animal hospital and had me admit them without hesitation, both puppies would have been dead overnight. They went down that fast. We worked fast on getting them on IV and medications.
After waiting for the blood work and lab reports to come back it stated that he had a viral infection but the Parvo was negative. This put me somewhat at ease for I know how bad Parvo can be but this puppy still wasn't getting better and now why was the female sick. From her first contact with him was Saturday when they flew together and now 6 days later she is sick. He had to have given this to her. When we got the Necropsy report back October 29/04 It was shocking news. He had Parvo. The reason his lab results were negative is because he had other problems. Report Read: The presence of a partial mesenteric torsion involving the proximal parts of the gastriontestinal track wheras in this particular case the Parvo virus appeared to have attacted the upper intestine perferentially and as a consequence has resulted in a hypermotility and torsion of the anterior part of the intestional track.
In other words, this puppy had a twisted intestine which blocked out the parvo from getting right through him. This is why he didn't show the normal signs. His colon still contained some formed fecal material. Therefor the parvo viral test could well be negative as this does depend on the presence of the virus working it's way through the intestinal track. Because of the acute tortion, no virus made it to the distal intestine. Poor baby! Not only did he have a deformed intestine, he had to deal with Parvo. Now I understand why the female got ill. I let both Annalee know on a daily bases what was happening. I was in shock. I was sad and hurt and I lived in fear of my older dog getting this. It was terrible.
I never heard a word from Betty until my puppy was dead for about 4 days. Never heard from her at all prior to when I bought him. Didn't call or email me once asking about him. I just always told Annalee to let her know. All the emails I sent to Betty were being bounced back. After I found out what these puppies had I asked Annalee what my opions were. She never annswerd my question or questions regarding the litle girls papers. I asked her what her health gaurantee was and she never answerd. Even though I emailed her all the lab reports so her vet could explain them to her the day I got them from the vet and had my vet call her when he had some idea of what was going on, she still tried to say it wasn't from her. She even tried to say they got sick maybe from my cats.
My cats are show cats that are old and never go outside! She kept coming up with all sorts of excuses. None of which had any scientific back up. She said it must have come from the plane. NO other animals were on that flite. Then she said it could be dog show crud??? Then she emailed me and demanded that my vet give the puppy some medicine for worming. She was looking at everything but herself. I sent her info on parvo. I told her that she wouldn't have known that he was exposed until he was symtomatic. She did email asking me if I thought her feamle got it from Betty's. I said it wasn't for me to say, but if she had the male at her house one week prior to shipping him and the earliest they break with the virus is 5 to 7 days after exposer, what does this tell you? She now has all the hard copies sent via priority post and the pronosis letter from my vet. Which included what the treatments were and the 1500.00 vet bill.
I told her I would be expecting a refund on the females vet bill and the money back for the male, plus up to the price of the male's vet bill as stated under The Florida State Puppy Lemon Law. She now is saying that her ad says she gaurantess Genetic Life Threatening Illness. I told her to look her ad over again because it infact states that she gives a LIFE threatening gaurantee and Parvo sure follows under that cattagory. I reminded her that I bought the female as a breeder and the vet found that she had loose pattela's as stated on the report from the vet. Said she could tighten up as she matures. I reminded Annalee that I have one year Gaurantee on this female under the Florida State Law on genetic defects. And again she would have to pay the vet bill and now she wants her back. She said she hasn't given AKC papers on her because she was waiting to see if I would return her.
I have had her 3 1/2 weeks already and it was just a few days ago when she asked for her back. I told her again, that I had no intentions at this time to sent her back and I wanted my AKC reg. Papers. She hasn't replied regarding them. I called her vet on November 11/04 asking if she had brought in any reports for him regarding these puppies. They said no. Now she is emailing me threatening that her lawyer is saying that I am slandering her. I have never sent her any emails that weren't facts. After a solid two weeks of emailing her with my concerns about the puppies, I finally told her I couldn't take it anymore because she was just talking in circles. Asked for her Attorn'y Name and phone number so I could pass it on when I contacted the state Attorny but she never gave me it.
Now she emailed me asking me to stop emailing her because that was harrassment. I did get a call from Betty last night in regards to the male. She said that the puppy still didn't have parvo but she was sorry he passed away. She was very nice to me and I told her that she did breed a quality puppy for he was very nice. She said she was waiting for her banker to get back because she would have to get a loan to pay me some money. Said she couldn't pay all of it. My question is why when you sell a live animal with a health gaurantee would you spend the money that isn't yours yet. They were notified of his serious illness 3 days later. Anything could go wrong with these tiny puppies. Why would you not have a seperate account for your breeding.
This is a business, is it not. As of today, they are still advertizing more puppies at 700.00 and so on puppyfind.com. She shipped several puppies the day she shipped mine. I not only have no money left to purchase new puppies, I have the fear that if I did they would get, sick for we know how Parvo is highly contagious and can stay for months. I have sufferd greatly over all of this. My husband and I have become a victoms. We have to stop these kind of people. They prey on us inoccent people, for we love the animals. They are not our extra income. They are purchased with hard earned money. Have you ever thought how much money these people make in a year selling puppies.
It would be differant if they had alot of vet bills or show expences, but these people have admitted that they never have sick puppies or adults and they don't show because they will pick up something. So how much can it cost feeding a chihuahua??? If you don't breed for show, then what are you breeding for. Selling Puppies for the money. I am going to find out more about internet fraud as well. If anyone knows about this I would love to know of any info that relates to advertizing fraud. We have to stop these terrible breeders. One can only really understand when they watch these little babies suffer. It is heart breaking.
