Found business in yellow pages; advertised "Immediate 24 hour repair and replacement", No overtime charge, 24/7 service. BBB had no ill reports. I found out they only come out during regular business hours M-F but that's the least of my worries. They came out, quoted $200-500 for repair. I authorized this. He went up on the roof for a little while, said it was all fixed and the total was $593. (ouch!) I cleaned out my bank account and borrowed some more from my mom as I didn't expect it to be higher than the highest quote. (BTW my air conditioner is a Goettl, 6 yrs old, no previous problems, maintained every year).
That night, the temp in my house only dropped from 91 to 86 degrees. I called the next day, as soon as I woke up and found this out (I work nights). The technician was instantly defensive and berated me for not calling sooner. My fiance called and the technician called him a faggot and worse. Finally, he agreed to come out the next afternoon (M-F 9-5, right? Believe me, 24 hours in Phoenix with no air feels like a lot longer. My pets were really suffering.
He came out, went on the roof, told my daughter it was fixxed and left. I come back from my trip three days later and guess what, no air conditioning.
The technician (# listed in the phonebook) told my fiance to go fly a kite... (?) He refused to give his name or his supervisors' name. I found the owners name on the BBB website and called this am (after a horrible night in the heat) and he's just as rude! Told me they wouldn't come out til the next day and it would probably cost more. Said it was my fiance's fault for "starting it" He told me there was no reason there shouldn't be more work involved than what was quoted. And of course, they won't come out til tomorrow... Will update afterward.
