The following link is the listing property for rent, #24E@ One Carnegie Hill. The owner firstly listed as $3500, and no one wanted it. Then she asked her broker to list it at $2950, which meet my criteria so me and my broker went to see it. Http://www.trulia.com/rental/3084987471-215-E-96th-St-24E-New-York-NY-10128
Once her broker saw me, and made sure that I was very interested, he started playing the game and trying to make me put down three months worth of deposit (that is about $10K!) When I finally made a sincere offer of two months worth of deposit (already absurd to me!) with a requirement of a flexible moving date (yes, I did really want that apartment,) the owner and her broker got even crazier and ASKED FOR SIX MONTHS WORTH OF DEPOSIT with A RAISE IN RENT PRICE TO $3000.
I was shocked at how the owner of Apt 24E at One Carnegie Hill, 215 E 96th St, NY was only using the listing price to attract people and hoping some one could fall into her trap and full fill her desperation for CASH.
