I am a 3rd generation Tampa resident. Having said that, you can only imagine the family, friends and business connections that are made over those lifetimes. Moreover, consider the range of those livelihoods that consist anywhere from plumbing businesses to medical specialists. Therefore, I was completely dismayed when my good friend and neighbor wanted to transform her unique, but old, Tampa home into an updated Key West style house. She was new to this area, so gladly I looked to my vast network of family and friends to find her a competent contractor.in doing so, a local resident mentioned a contractor who used to live down the street from him. After consulting my "network, " I only heard horror stories about a South Tampa contractor who moved to Wesley Chapel to restart his business. I do not have any personal experience with him, however when I read what he had to say about a local elevator company online, I was even more furious. I have known many businesses and homeowners who have had nothing but rave reviews regarding this company. I also have heard nothing but great things from friends regarding, "Bruno Catti." He sounds like a guy who would drop anything to go help another individual out. He is a business owner and must run his business accordingly, but he is extremely fair and helpful.
However, everywhere I inquired about this "Gordie, " I heard nothing but strange and bizarre tales of "Gordie Zimmermann's" antics, from his business shenanigins to his sordid personal life, which became VERY PUBLIC in our South Tampa community. I didn't even realize this was the same person until I matched the stories up with the name. I will say this, my neighbor consulted a handful of local and well established contractors to which, off the record when asked, they acknowledged of hearing the same stories shared in the small world of South Tampa. My own family established themelves through the years beginning with the struggle of their immigration to Florida, so we are not from money, however we do have a great respect for this community and its reputation. To have this out-of-towner come in and do what is seemingly shoddy work and then slam local businesses, comes across as counterproductive. Does this guy not realize that to build a business from scratch you rely on word of mouth and in turn that comes from the way you run your business? Furthermore, why would he mess with a small and well established community? Here, you cannot sneeze on Westshore Blvd. Without it being heard all the way over to Davis Island, especially if you are a business operator. I did note, there is also nothing filed with the BBB regarding this elevator company, however there are court records readily available on this "scam contractor."
Maybe this will be a good warning to other potential "outsiders" who do not appreciate a tightknit community and they will opt for a bigger city, such as Atl or Miami to pursue those kind of poor work ethics that Gordon Zimmermann appears to practice.
