Purchasing an above ground pool was a big decision for me and my family as it is a costly decision. I went to the REC store and found a couple of pools of interest. After finally getting someone to wait on me, I began to ask questions about the pools and the prices etc. I was shopping for a smaller pool than the one I ended up purchasing because as I would question things of the smaller less expensive pools I was told "horror stories" so to speak and why no one buys a smaller pool. The pool I bought was the next to highest price pool on their showroom floor as to steer me from the "horror stories" given to me by the salesman. I agreed to financing and the pool was mine. As my children were excited of the larger size pool, it was not what I was shopping for but now my fears of a smaller pool were put to rest (or so I thought).
They offered to set up my pool for me with a price of $750. I declined that and would do the self install thing with help from friends and family. I had many "back order" items the day I picked up my pool and was to return to the store 2 days later to get the rest. After 2 days later, I returned to the store only to be told that NONE of my items were in and to come back the next week. Now there were items necessary to install this pool.
Liner, Pump, Sand for pump, startup cleanning products, Cover, Ladder, and I'm sure there are more I cant remember. What I actually had in my posession was the metal wall of the pool and a net for cleanning the top of the water (that attaches to the Cam Pole). It took approx 6 weeks for me to receive another portion of products I ordered, still preventing me from installing this pool. I finally was able to pick up my liner and yet there was no sand for the filter, or other products.
I finally had to go to Home Depot to get the needed sand after about 8 weeks of REC WAREHOUSE telling me they still did not have my sand or cam pole. Its been now several months and I have now had my pool installed approx. 3 weeks, still with no cam pole and sand. After which this pool has now been in approx 3 weeks I find out I needed a permit to install on my property and being a single mother I had no clue of this until an inspector showed up at my house.
I was to be told this by the pool company and apparently I signed a form at the pool company that I agreed to get a permit (these papers signed were given to me by the saleman and they were actually shoved in my face and he was rushing me to sign sign sign - I was never given time to read what it was I was signing, the saleman was telling me it was the agreement that I was declining the professional install and would be a self install. I feel that this was all a very bad experience in buying something that has this kind of cost attached to it with little or no information on important issues that should have been addressed as well as ALL of my products should have been available to me to get from the pool store rather than my waiting months later and still dont have. If I waited on REC WAREHOUSE I would still not have the pool installed for my children to enjoy over the summer school break.
I DO NOT recommend REC WAREHOUSE for NOTHING. This has been a rip off for me and my family and I've never had a regret of a purchase before now, I wish I had never purchased this pool.
