Red Dot Specialists
Will not honor warranty or return calls

We ordered the installation of a waterfall and firepit at our home. Don Edwards of Red Dot Specialists came by to see my wife and I and proposed the layout for installing the waterfall and firepit. We agreed on a price and he agreed to start soon.

We spoke at length about his company and experience and he was able to show us a brochure for Red Dot Specialists and he stated he was very experienced with installing waterfalls and firepits and assured us he would stand by his products.

He showed up within a few days and proceeded to install the waterfall and firepit and repair a leaky valve in our sprinkler syatem.

The work was completed OK. A few days later we noticed the waterfall was not retaining a water level as described so I contact Mr. Edwards who did respond promptly with his men and said he fixed the problem. We even gave him more work
to do sprinkler repairs and some landscaping. He said he would be back soon to do the work. About one week later I noticed that the water level was worse and in fact we were loosing all the water in the waterfall and it was 100% drained.

Also, the remote control which turns the water on and off had stopped functioning whereby I could not turn it off unless I climbed into a bush to unplug it. I kept calling his phone and sending emails and either the phone number was not accepting calls or was taking messages. After many many tries, I contacted Mr. Edwards and he said he would come in a few days to make repairs and take care of the additional work we had for him. He did not show up and once again I kept trying to reach him and eventually go thru on the phone and he promised to come over and make repairs.

Once again he did not show up. I keep trying to contact him and can't. We now have more problems with his work.in addition to the waterfall leaking water, the remote control has stopped working completely.

I had opened up the irrigation box where he repaired the sprinkler valve and saw the box was almost completely full of water from the sprinkler system, even though it was supposedly repaired.

The electrical power for my backyard lighting which includes the waterfall pump is controlled by a 20Amp GFCI circuit breaker which was installed by a licensed electrical contractor and it had been working fine. Approx 14 days ago I noticed that there was no power going to the waterfall or lights in the backyard. I saw that the circuit breaker tripped. It would not reset. I
proceeded to disconnect the load from the breaker and without a load it reset fine. I thaen checked all the outlets in the yard and there were no short circuits or loose wiring which would cause the breaker to trip. For two weeks the pump was off and no water in the waterfall. I also turned off the rear sprinklers to see if the GFCI breaker was detecting an unsafe condition due to
water.

I had an electrical contractor come to my house to check the circuit. The circuit breaker did reset this time after the water and pump being off and the ground being dry.

He spent considerable time going over the circuits and what he found was that prior to the waterfall and firepit being installed we had an electrical outlet in the yard. Mr. Edwards removed the outlet and installed a new one to power his pump. The electrician noticed that the electrical work was in violation of codes. It appears that an underground splice was made and buried somehere near the waterfall and in close proximity to an underground gas line Mr. Edwards installed. The outlet he put in (without using an electrician) was just dangling loose on the ground and wired with indoor rated Romex cable suitable for a 15 Amp circuit, not a 20 Amp as we have. It seems water is affecting the improper underground splice and creating
a serious safety issue as we have water and a gas line in close proximity as well as 3 children playing.

He completely ignores ALL phone calls and email / text messages.
