After being covered by the Powderhorn's "ProGuard" underground oil tank insurance policy for many years, I needed to file a claim for the accidental release of oil into the ground beneath the tank.
The Powderhorn Agency rejected my claim, referencing a series of convoluted and contradictory exclusions, which, under New York State law, are held against the drafters of such "policies."
Regardless, Powderhorn, under their ProGuard Policy (QBE Insurance), continues to reject may appeals to do the right thing, remediate the contaminated soil, and cover me as promised in their so-called policy.
They intentionally give their customers a false sense of security, yet word their policy in such a way that you are not covered regardless of how long you have been paying premiums, regardless of trying to protect the environment, and regardless of adhering to the terms in policy.
Don't be fooled if you have a ProGuard policy. You are likely not covered in the event of a disaster. What's more, they force you to continue to use oil as a heat source even after you have had a bad experience.
Just say not to Powderhorn / ProGuard / QBE.
