Sewer Flooding

I had a sewer back-up flooding after severe weather and rain on 06/26/09. I called people to clean up which they did and I called my Home Insurance All State to make a claim. I had to go to a motel with my child as the smell was terrible and on Monday insurance agent informed me there was no sewer back up coverage on my policy. Then I called Sewer Authority of Scranton and the manager came, then sent someone to disinfect and made arrangement to take damaged furniture and other items. He told me to send complaint to the office which I did and he forward it to Travelers Insurance as their Insurance Co. I received email asking if I noticed any funny smell since I moved into the house (in August) unfortunately I did not respond to it (although I did notice smell few times) and on 07/25/09 I got denial letter.

“I am the only one from whom they heard about damage” this is what Scranton Sewer told me when I called; however, my contractor said there were a lot of people who called him that day with similar or even worse damage than mine, and the reason for the above remark was as I was at the end of the line the pressure was the worst, thus the flooding occured.

However, the Sewer Authority of Scranton did extensive repair on the main line at front of my house and the neighbor’s due to obvious problem with the line. Damage and loss were high and it would be fare and right for Sewer Authority to reimburse me and other people whose claims were denied. I was thinking to hire the lawyer but I did not find anyone who wanted to take a case with no retainer and questionable outcome.
