Craft-Bilt Warranty worthless!

I had a sunroom added on in by a local Craft-Bilt contractor under the BetterLiving Sunroom name. I am very familiar with the construction industry and did all the required research before I went with them. None the less—I got conned by the Craft-Bilt promise.

There were no problems during original construction. The room passed every review and code inspection. However, the next year, the local contractor (BetterLiving Sunrooms) later went out of business and then declared bankruptcy.

I later developed problems where the roof joins to the main home. With the local representative out of business, I turned to Craft-Bilt to have them honor their warranty—which is a prime part of the sales pitch (i.E. You ever have to worry about your room because of the 50 year warranty).

At first, Craft-Bilt ignored my requests. Then, 9 months later, they asked some random guy, who was their new "representative" to contact me. He demanded $150 to even look at the room to see if there were any warranty repairs to be made. Once he finally came out, he decided that nothing fell under the warranty, but I would have to have the entire area where the sunroom joins the main home re-framed and reroofed. At my expense. Never mind the fact that it was framed and roofed to Craft-Bilt's specific directions and plans.

Craft-Bilt's warranty is not what they claim it is. It does not cover anything—including any problems with your sunroom's design. Craft-Bilt designed the roof integration with my main home. It is its responsibility. I have found this to be a horrible situation and still not resolved.

Please reconsider if you think of using Craft-Bilt or BetterLiving Sunrooms. If you have a problem, they will not honor their warranty. You are better off paying the extra money and going with a normal contractor, not this company. If I knew then what I know now, I would have never gone this direction.

On the plus side, my room is really pretty and, hopefully, when I get it redone by a real general contractor (not a Craft-Bilt/BetterLiving contractor), it will be perfect.
