I had heard about the 40% discount Coit was advertising for their air duct, tile and gout and carpet cleaning services. When the sales tech visited my home for a supposedly honest and realistic estimate, he did a quick visual check/overview, asked me how my air ducts I had, looked at my 2 small bathrooms and one medium size bathroom tile floors, one medium size carpet stain in my MBR and gave me a written estimate of $2,369. This estimate also included an undiscussed $19 service charge. Then he applied the advertised 40% discount to this total which equalled $1419. He wanted me to feel like I was getting a great deal because Coit was applying their 40% discount. The bottom line was this was a gross misrepresentation of the cost. He was charging me $1500 for the bathroom floors, $100 for the carpet spot, and $750 for the air ducts. When I confronted him with the absurdity of the estimate he asked me what I wanted to pay, especially the bathroom floors. I repeated my claim to him about the overcharge which really was nullifying the benefit of the discount. He then asked me if $450 was ok for the bathroom floors. This comment then justified my complaint that Coit was charging just on the basis of what someone was able and willing to pay versus the honest and realistic cost and then applying the discount so the customer was getting value for what he is paying for.in summary this is just plain and simple dishonest business dealings and any customer who believes Coit is giving them a good deal needs to look at the facts before deciding. After this happened I called their office in Monrovia, Ca and complained to the receptionist about what had happened and asked that a manager return my call. Never heard anything back and then I placed a second call and gave them again all the facts, invoice #'s etc and asked for a manager to call me and again never heard from Coit. If you want to be taken by Coit's big discount advertising then be my guest... I think it's best to avoid doing business at all costs.
