Two months after we moved into our 3 BR duplex (Aug. 2001), a few ceramic tiles in the kitchen started to come loose. We contacted the landlord who told us they would be out in a few days to repair them. 19 Months and 124 tiles later, none have been fixed and the kitchen floor is 60% cracked, broken or loose.
We had offered to have it fixed ourselves, but he refused to reimburse. We have talked to, left messages, etc and have been blown off for almost two years. I am on blood thinners and if cut by one of the broken tiles, could be life threatening. My wife has already been cut and required stiches when she was wiping a spill. Last October, we advised our landlord that we are going to withhold rent until the problem is corrected. They have been trying to evict us since December. We have already been to court 6 times. This company should not be allowed to rent property. There are other tenants with similar problems.
