We built with Hill Built Homes owned by Mr. Keith Hill and regret ever doing so. As for his web site Our Commitment to You. We were never smiling during our building process, it took seven months to build our house due to his design errors, lack of attention to details to our project, lack of communication with us during the building process, and the extra finanical costs to us because he under bid the project by at least 8% or more. He did have some excellent subcontractors. If his measure of success is by referrals I would definitely not refer Hill Built Homes to anyone.instead of owning our dream home, we're living with an emotional and finanical nightmare Mr. Hill left us. Personally I believe he uses his parade homes as a bait and switch tactic for his contracts.
Because of how Mr. Hill does his business pratices we loss thousand of dollars in construction loan cost, higher interest rates because of extension needed to correct his design problems and overages from his under bidding. Work was left unfinished, never got to chose all the products we wanted in the house, he changed blueprint plans without our consent.
Example 1: In the contract Mr. Hill was suppose to install a side fence and two wings with a gate for $1,100 and labor was free. Mr. Hill installed the post unevenly and support boards incorrectly and then ask for another $3,400 in materials, labor was free to finish the job.
I contacted the Frontier Fence Co. Who does the subdivision fences for an estimate to complete the job.
Frontier Fence Co. Estimate was $1,375 that included materials, labor and to fix the poorly installed post and support boards Mr. Hill installed.
Mr. Hill took the $1,100 for materials and said I only had a twelve dollar credit left from the materials. Frontier Fence Co. Thought there was only $400
materials used.
Example 2: My wife and I were discussing if we should have a sunken dining room that was in our blue prints while the subcontractors were beginning to frame the house. We called Mr. Hill for his opinion on the sunken dining room and he stated he wasn't putting in the sunken dining room. The blueprints showed a sunken dining room.
Example 3: Mr Hill gave my wife a brochure on window designs to chose for the home. Mr. Hill never contacted her again about her selection. During framing Mr. Hill installed windows of his choice without conferring with us on the selection.
This was what we dealt with for 7 months dealing with Hill Built Homes.
