New to remodeling, I wasn't prepared for the so-called customer service offered by The Kitchen & Bath Factory. I should have gotten some idea of what was ahead when the first appointment had to be changed because of a scheduling conflict on their end.
After the initial meeting and estimate I was told that the sooner I could accomplish what I needed to do in terms of making selections, the sooner it could get scheduled. I made an appointment for the following day to keep things moving. That morning another scheduling conflict suddenly came up.
I emailed later that day (that way I could document the information and the timing) but no response. Days passed. One week after I signed the contract I placed a call to the person I had been working with. I then placed a call to the owners and left a message.
Cricket called and then Tom and left messages. When we talked they asked questions and then interrupted when I tried to explain my concerns but they were not listening to what I was trying to say. I spent about an hour on the phone trying to explain I no longer had confidence and did not feel comfortable that the work would be done in a timely manner. I also expressed concerns about working with them. Tom insisted I was shouting but I made sure one of his former clients was within hearing range and could vouch that I wasn't talking loud. Ly Both he and Cricket seemed to think it was silly for me to be concerned that I had paid more than $4,000 and had heard from no one and wasn't getting any responses to my messages. They assured me the project was "on track." The only thing on track was their getting money.
They have no concept of customer service and don't listen. They may think $4,000 is nothing but for me that is a signficant expense and just having that money sit in their bank account and have nothing - not even an appointment, a phone call or email so show for it after a week - makes me nervous, anxious and stressed.
I asked to cancel the contract because I don't feel I want to work with them and I honestly don't think they will do a good job for me. I can't imagine their attitude will translate to quality work especially since I have already lodged concerns.
Learn from this. Don't make a costly mistake. Don't allow yourself to be treated in the same manner. It is sad because I am only trying to upgrade a bathroom that probably dates back to the 1970s. This isn't a frivilous investment and I really need the job to be done by someone I don't feel is out to get me.
