Because of Reed Mobile Home, LLC. We Have a Swimming Pool Instead of a Mobile Home

In February my fiance and I purchased a mobile home from Reed Mobile Home, LLC. Before we signed any contracts Mr. Daniel Reed (owner) made us aware that he had to paint the guest bedroom and bathroom, put new linoleum in the kitchen due to a big tear in the previous linoleum.

It took Reed Mobile Home, LLC. One month to deliver our mobile home to our property in Sheridan and 3weeks to set it up. We were making payments on it before it was delivered.

Once it was delivered to our property my fiance hooked up the water Sat. April 12. At this time there were no apparent water leaks. Thurs. April 17 my fiance went to check on the mobile home and found an inch of standing water in the living room and kitchen. He removed all the water out he possibly could.

Fri. April 18 my fiance contacted our insurance agency to see about filing a claim but the insurance agent said since the mobile home didn't have under pinning or front and back decks insurance wouldn't cover it.

That same day my fiance contacted Mr. Daniel Reed and he said he would send a plumber out first thing Mon. Morning and would possibly give us a little money to help fix the floors.

Sat. April 19 my fiance and I spent all day ripping out carpert and linoleum in hopes of saving the sub flooring. Mon. April 21 Mr. Daniel Reed called my fiance and said that the plumber was on his way. I had to take off work in order to meet him that day. The plumber showed up that morning at 8:50A.M. The plumber told my fiance's mother and me that it was the dishwasher was leaking and he fixed it. The plumber also appologized and said he was sorry all of this happened and he was the one who installed the dishwasher.

My fiance called Mr. Daniel Reed and asked him what he was going to do to help us since the plumber he hired didn't install the dishwasher correctly and that was what caused the leak. Mr. Reed told my fiance that he didn't have to help us with any of the damages because we signed a contract "As Is" and if he decided to help us it was only because he didn't want his business to get a bad reputation.

On Friday April 25 we had a plumber come out to hook up the air conditioning unit. The plumber said it would cost us approximately $400 because the lines to the unit were cut instead of disconnected like they were supposed to be and this allowed freon to escape into the atmosphere.

We have gotten estimates for all the damages and the grand total is $5,500.
$2,500 to fix the kitchen, $2,500 to fix the living room, approximately $150 for the supplies to replace the wood paneling on the walls this does not include labor, and $400 to fix the air conditioning unit.

May 5 we sent in a complaint form and pictures of all the damages to the Attorney General's Office. We received a postcard May 27 stating that the Office of the Attorney General had received our paperwork and had assigned us a case number.

Wed. May 28 Mr. Daniel Reed Called my fiance and told him if we didn't go through with the complaint at the Attorney General's office he would pay for the floors but if we continued with the complaint he would fight us to the end and we wouldn't get anything. That same day I called the Attorney General's office and told them what Mr. Reed said to my fiance and they recommended that we file a report with our local police department. So we did.

Sat. May 31 I went to the mobile home to check on it and when I walked through the front door and immediately heard the sound of water pouring from somewhere inside the house. I checked the house and found the pipe to the hot water heater was completely separated and water was flowing from it. The hot water heater pipe had previously cracked in two and who ever previously tried to fixed it before we got the mobile home shoved the top broken end of the pipe into the bottom broken end of the pipe, duct taped them together and put a clamp on the bottom end of the broken pipe. There was over an inch and a half of standing water in the the master bedroom and master bathroom. I managed to get most of the water out with a wet/dry shop vac and a carpert cleaner but the water had been there long enough to completely ruin the carpert and linoleum. My fiance and I spent all day June 1 ripping up carpert and linoleum again.

Now the walls in the master bedroom, master bathroom, kitchen, and living room are warped, the insulation under the mobile home is so full of water it touches the ground, the carpet in the master bedroom and living room is ruined, the linoleum in the master bathroom and kitchen are ruined, there is water in the ventilation system, and the smell of mold and mildew will literally make you nauseated when you walk in the front door.

We are making payments on a mobile home that isn't fit to live in! Someone please help us!
