I purchased a Turbonics wall mounted heater to coincide with a new boiler installation with a goal of providing heat in a small partitioned cellar area. I researched the Turbonics web site to choose their best product for expected BTU output, Then I called and discused particulars (room size deminesions, wall mounting etc) with Turbonics staff who suggested the unit would have no problem heating the room.
Once a new boiler was installed the Turbonics unit was hooked up as well. It ran for a few minutes and seemed fine. However, once the cover (which was a major challenge to align) was placed on, it ran for a few minutes and shut off. We reset the thermostat on high and the unit still continued to shut off. When we emailed Turbonics they said it might be a bad thermostat and they'd send another, which ultimately ended up being a wall mounted thermostat. Once that (along with another installation/service bill) was installed, the unit ran about four to five minutes and than started clanging as the fan was rapping the housing. I called Turbonics and found that the motor had to be realigned. Again, the housing had to be taken off and again, everything needed to be re-aligned. I also asked about coverage for the extra service call and they never got back to me.
Turbonics=No heat: The Turbonics unit ran for more than five minutes without rapping, but failed miserably to move any heat through the system after over ten to twenty minutes. We've checked that heats going into the unit, nothing moves from the unit outward. It fails to provide even a gnats breath worth or warmth, contrary to all the charts and graphs indicated on Turbonics web site. This unit wasn't cheap. It was a rip off!
