I purchased a Clayton double-wide home a little more than 5 years ago, and for the last 2 years I have been getting roof leaks that started with the skylights and then began running down the walls in the kitchen and bathroom.
Since my warranty was over, I tried finding where the leaks might be coming from and kept trying to repair the roof. But depending on how long it would rain, I still kept getting leaks.
I now am getting a new roof installed because of a week-long rain that caused a portion of my bathroom ceiling to come down. I e-mailed the company, explaining that even though my warranty had expired, I would appreciate some compensation for a roof that is only a little more than 5 years old, and Clayton never got back to me.
I realize that when people are forced to buy manufactured housing one should not expect a Lincoln when buying a Ford, but I feel one should not have to worry about replacing a roof that is only 5 years old; we at least deserve a decent roof over our heads.
