In being in Cancun, I bought a timeshare with Royal Holiday Club. We still owed over $8,000 on it.in October we decided to sell it. I found several prospective sellers through the internet. After a lot of consideration and talking to representatives I decided to use Timeshares Quick Sale International.
The asking price for publishing our timeshare for sale on the internet was $699.00. For that I was assured that I would get top billing on all the hot search engines and they would publish the ad for 6 moths. They assured me that my property would probably sell within 90 days because it was a good package in high demand on the market. As well he told me to check the company credentials with ARDA.
I paid the money via credit card and they showed me my ad, which looked professional. I was impressed. The person that I contacted and who took my money was named Chris Murphy and gave a phone number of 1-800-529-8313. He said I can call him any time and that he or somebody else would call me the minute there was an offer on my property. That was in October.
In December when I hadn't heard anything since then I decided to call Chris back just to check in and see how things were. Then I realized that the phone numbers were disconnected, e-mail address no longer valid and the website is no longer available. Basically, I was screwed out, my money is gone, AND I still have the timeshare.
Following the phone number they provided at that time, I have found out that the owner of the company - Timeshares Quick Sale International LLP - is Amy Evans, the address somewhere in Florida - 37502 US Highway 19N, Palm Harbor, FL 34684-1019. Contacting the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office with the intention to fill out a complain report they told me the number is registered in Clearwater, Florida at 12 Court and indeed the Timeshare Quick Sale is registered there. Now I am in the process of filling out the complain report with the Clearwater Police Department (I have already filled out one with the Calgary Police Office, the place where I live).
I am convinced that at least I can start an investigation with the local police to get more information about the kind of companies which operated such business.
At least everybody has to be aware in contacting and paying this kind of companies.
