Needed help with drawing up plans for a remodel to our home. Contacted William Colbert dba Crescent Custom Builders because he had previously done some work for my mom. He came over took measurements and asked for $250.00 as a retainer for work to be done.
We paid him $125.00 by check, thank God or else he would have $250.00 of our money instead of $125.00 with NO WORK TO SHOW FOR!
A month went by with no word from this guy. I called to ask him for my money back because he had not called or anything. He said he was so sorry, he got busy with a project and didnt have enough time to do our job and sorry he didnt call, but he would mail it to me. Two weeks go by, NO CHECK. Called him back to see what the problem was, he gave some excuses about being sick. He also was "surprised" that I had not received the check. He said he had been checking his account to see why it was not cashed.
I assured him that if in fact he did mail me the check and if I received it, I would have cashed it as soon as I got it.
He aplogized again and said he would mail it "again". So now one month later, still no check. I have decided to file a claim in small claims court and post on here to warn others about doing business with this person. I will post everywhere and anywhere I can to warn others until he repays us.
I came to find out that he also took $850.00 from my mom for a remodel for her as well and has promised to pay her back but keeps "postponing" it because he is having financial trouble. I urged her to file a small claims lawsuit too.
Customer beware when hiring guys like this! We totally got scammed and although it was not a lot of money, it still hurt us! I was 8 months pregnant with our 5th baby and that money could have really come in handy.
Today is October 24. I am going to print out this complaint and fax it to him. I would like nothing more than for this guy to just give back the money he took from us and withdraw the complaint from the site and inform the court he has made good before we go to court.
