We contracted to purchase a home, actually 2 homes from M/I Homes (who purchased Shamrock Homes). The first home was not meeting the appraised value that they were trying to sell the house for. We lost $5k on that one and they did, per the terms of the contract, refund us $7k. We later found out they sold the home to someone else for FAR LESS money and NEVER offered to drop the contract price for us.
The 2nd home that we were having built, they are trying to stick us for $10k deposit monies. This house was contracted at $449k and is ONLY WORTH $320k according to an appraisal we had done. Our contract clearly states that if the home is NOT at the appraised value needed, then we would NOT lose our deposit monies.
Well, folks, their new slogan is: "Did you know?" And I think it should be "Did you know M/I Homes is a RIP-OFF company?"
