When my husband and I signed up with Homes Relief, we worked with an agent named Lucy. She is at extension 107. She spoke directly with me. I asked multiple questions about the process that was about to ensue. I also informed Lucy that we have recently been the victims of a massive real estate scam. WE are working closely with the FBI and the local Police Department. We have very little money left and were trying to scrape the I also informed Lucy that we had a difficult time trusting people, and had little money to spare.
I was told by Lucy that if we were to find a house with your company, that we were only out the $149 fee, as it would go to cover the transfer of the deed. Lucy assured me that if we found a home to live in or purchase through other means that we could get our money back with a 100% garuantee. At no time did Lucy ever indicate any additional contingencies with this refund, nor did she make us aware that there would be a long process to go through.
She did NOT explain that we were to contact each home owner on our own, and that we were responsible for intiating the process with each person. I told Lucy that we only had a week to find a home. I repeatedly asked Lucy if that would be enough time, and Lucy assured me that she would could be able to make this happen. Lucy indicated that she had another customer find a house in a very quick amount of time, and all this depended on our willingness to act quickly and sign up for a membership.
We did sign up, and then found out the extensive process that was required. We did not have the time nor the means to pursue this avenue. We were able to find a home to rent by our own means. I called the customer service and relayed this to them.
John indicated to her that all I needed to do was to state this in a cover letter and mail it in to the company. We did not have access to a printer, I hand wrote the letter. I also indicated in this letter that we do not have means to a printer.
Our refund was then denied and we were absolutely outraged. We have attempted to contact Lucy mutiple times. When I asked to speak to her after my husband called to talk to Lucy, Lucy hung up on me. On another occasion. My husband spoke with Derick at customer service, and he was unbelieveably disprespectful to him.
We wrote a letter of complaint to the customer service department. They wrote back on May 2nd, saying they reviewed the tapes and found that Lucy was not compliant and would issue our refund in 48 - 72 hours. Five days later, we still did not receive the refund.
I called them on the 10th of May. The person, Matt, was very nice and said that there should be no reason why we hadn't received our money yet and that maybe there was something wrong with our credit card. I called the bank and they said there was nothing wrong, and there were no pending credits to our account.
I called them back on the 11th. The woman's name was Stephanie and she said that the reason why I hadn't received the refund was because of a computer problem. She said I needed to wait a couple more days.
I just called them today, on the 15th, and we still have not received our money. The person, Stephen, indicated it was because I needed to print out a form (even though I didn't have access to a printer) and resend in the request for a refund. I told him that a refund had already been promised to me. He said that that was the best that he could do and there was nothing else to be done. He said I had to call back to speak with his supervisor.
I am outraged and feel that we have been defrauded. This company is wrongly holding our money. DO NOT sign up with them unless you don't expect to see your money again.
