Beware of Centex Homes, they are Deceptive in their Selling Practices. On July we put a down towards a home in Jacksonville, Florida. Our closing was on August 4. On August 3rd 2006 at about 5:45pm, I receive a call from Centex saying a road was being proposed and they just heard about it. He stated the road would go through our home and home may need to be torn down.
The next morning at our closing they stated they had just found out and it may not happen, ect. They offered us to think about it over the weekend, but they knew we were under the gun. They knew we had sold our home from New Jersey on July 31, my girls were to start school that very day, my husband had told his employer he would be able to start work from home on August 8th, our moving truck was on its way from New Jersey. We had no choice but to close under the circumstances, my husband could not tell his employer for a month or two off until he found a place to live.
Turns out Centex told my neighbors, the day before their closing, which was a week after ours. A few other neighbors were told the day before their closing, weeks after ours.
Beware of Centex, they are liars and deceivers. They care more about making money off of people that have no way out. I offered Centex the home back and give us our money back, but they lay the responsibility of the city to take care of us. It turns out they knew about the road since 2004!
