Cut down a sound, solid, old oak tree that they represented as dangerous rotten decayed and likely to fall on the yardman

We had Arbor Pro out to give an estimate for triming the limbs of a huge old oak tree off the roof of the house.

The sales man misrepresented the condition of the tree and made us believe that the tree was dangerous to any one under it. We believed his high presure sales pitch and allowed them to cut the tree down because we didn't want anyone to be killed by rotten, falling limbs. We would have never cut the tree down just because it was old and "likely" to blow down in a storm. It was standing after all the stroms of two years ago and we were willing to risk storm damage. We were told it was dangerous to the yardman while he was mowing.

When they cut it down there was NO decay on any limbs or the trunk of the tree. We have pictures. They cut down a healthy tree for a fee.

They also damaged siding on the front of our home. We now will be replacing that at a cost of 4 thousand dollars.

We ended up paying the almost four thousand dollar fee minus his insurance deductible of one thousand. An expensive lesson for us.

The city has an arborist who could have advised us. We could have gotten an honest evaluation of our tree before we allowed it to be taken down.
