21st Century Shutters, The Shutter Factory, Win Decor, Inc., Direct Blinds, Quick Blinds. Ripoff victimized many consumers

I bought 380 square feet of shutters on 7-23-01. I completely read the back of the contract that evening and noted that it did not include installation so I stopped payment on the deposit check and called the sales person the next day and asked that thay cancel the order as I did not want someone who was unfamilar with the product to install them. They advised they would lower the price and recommend an installer who would know the product to install them.

I reconsidered and let them write a new order.

About a week later one of their "designers" Cheryl, came out to remeasure and decided that we really needed 402 square feet.
(A mismeasure) On 9-12 I was advised that the shutters were almost ready and if I would send the balance, they would be delivered and installed.

The installer quit on the day he was supposed to start installation and no one advised us until we called to see where he was. We were then advised that he had quit the previous weekend. They suggested a new installer who had worked with him and knew the product.

He came out with a helper and put up 10 sets of the shutters, which left one set on the patio door in the living room to be done. It took 3 days to do what he did and then he said they were ill-fitting and he could not fix them.

After numerous phone calls, another person came out and spent 3 days working on the living room and only had one of the four shutters hung and it was incorrect. He eventually decided they did not fit either.

A lady who introduced herself as new employee Erika Lorre (who worked part time as a math teacher) came out and took measurements and had all the shutters except living room (which were still being worked on) picked up to be remade. (We later found she had been referred to by other employees as Marquise, who had been with the company a long time and was also a math teacher and according to one letter we received was the owner of CIC (Certified Installation Co.)

The shutters were remade and returned and eventually they hired a new independent cabinet maker to install them. Two men arrived and tried to hang them and again they were made incorrectly (bowed and warped). The installers tried and advised that as far as they could see, all shutters and frames were warped and unable to be intsalled.

To date, after speaking to production manager and receiving a letter of apology from management, they are no longer returning our phone calls and we have shutters sitting on the floor all over the house unable to be installed satisfactorily.

We are embarassed to say we are out $7,500.00 plus a lot of phone calls and lost work with no results. This man should be stopped. We have a list of other people that this has happened to.
