False Warrenty, fraudulent, bad service consumer fraud ripoff consumer rip-off fraud corruption

11-30-01, we purchased our home. As part of our real estate contract, we had an AHS warranty. 12-20-01, our furnace stopped working. Called AHS and they sent a repairman out 12-22-01. We at this time paid our $35 service fee. 12-26-01 he returned and found a faulty ignition. 12-26-01 repairman found the burners of the Gas pack to be faulty, and needing to be replaced. AHS would not cover the replacement of the burners as they said it was a pre-existing condition from before we had purchased our contract. At this time it was 26 days after the contract began, 20 degrees outside, and we had small children. We were told that they would only replace burners if it was 30 days past. SO needing HEAT, we paidthe cost of the burners, ignition switch, and labor incurred which was $575.32. After many phone calls & letters, AHS, in late Feb, they agreed to pay us approx $150 to cover the costs of the ignition switch as we DID pay their service fee. 1-15-02 our real estate agent found coverage for our refrigerator, washer and dryer had not begun. He called AHS, and they informed him because it was 30 days or more from the original Ameri-spec (sister company of American home shield) home inspection, we would have to have an inspection of the refrigerator, washer and dryer, before coverage could begin. They were inspected on 1-16 and this cost $90. There was $242.45 in repairs needed, and when AHS was informed of this, we were told they would repair them with the now $45 service fee, and they would be covered. Wanting to wait at least 30 days to ensure coverage we decided to not call for over a month. The $155.00 coverage on this washer and dryer and refrigerator was paid on 1-23.3-26-02 AHS was called to do repairs. I explained FULLY about the inspection, and the situation... They 1st attempted to send 2 separate companies, knowing I would be paying two (now) $45 service fees. I made them aware of this, they changed it to one. It took over 30 hours (they claim only 4 or less hours) for the company to contact us. The Company called at 9pm the next night and said they could not fix the problems, and to call AHS. AHS first informed us that we had no coverage for the washer and dryer. When we explained we had a printed copy of the fees paid in January for this coverage, they then said that because the problems are preexisting, the W/D are not covered until we fix the problems found on the inspection. This is completely contradictory to what we, and our real estate agent were told in January.

American Home shields website says "No inspection is necessary proir to enrollment", and they clearly state on their website americanhomesheid.com in regards to sellers, about how problems with the home after being sold are the responsibility of AHS, and that coverage will begin upon receipt of funds and continues for one year, and our coverage all began 11-30-01, when coverage was paid 12/24/01 and 1/23/02. This company is SHADY SHADY SHADY! Beware!!! Complaints filed with BBB, and so far nothing from the company...
