E&L Limited Partnership has a run-down apartment building at 1133 Girard St. NW Washington DC9. Erwin Sweetwine is a police officer who runs the building. I lived there for approxiamently 7 months, I had to leave the conditions because the conditions were unbarrable. Of course he tried to say I broke my lease and that I owed him more money, let me explain why this was not so.
I moved in on December 1 I lived in a 1 bedroom apartment that had a leaking ceiling, I could take a shower in the living room it was so bad, I had a clogged up kitchen sink, a shower with no water pressure, and went 3 weeks with no heat in the dead of winter. All of these issues I had to pay for myself estimated 2,000.00. And thats not all.
In May of new neighbors had moved in they brought roaches, I had just had my apartment exterminated 2 months previous it cost me $100.00. I complained numerous times because the roaches started coming into my apartment I told the landlord Mr. Erwin Micheal Sweetwine and he told me I would have to share the cost of exterminating the building with the tenant that brought the roaches.
In July it was 107 degrees outside and Mr. Sweetwine took the air conditioner from my unit we were sweating like dogs. I asked him if he was going to return and he said no I would have to buy my own and pay him $100.00 per month for using it. I had enough I moved out and broke my lease. He is trying to sue me for 3600.00 for the remainder of my lease I had only moved out 3 months till my lease was up and my rent was only $650.00 per month... I'm being ripped off can someone help me please!!!
