Not caring for the customer, not wanting to take responsibility for there work Ripoff

I bought an old house in April and the main reason I bought the house was that I was buying a home warranty from Prestige thinking that if anything happens I will be covered.

Well I have been in the house for 5 months now and I have had to call Prestige 5 times now to send someone out to fix the A/C. Each time they come out they fix one thing and charge me $50.00 and twice I have had to recall the work because they did not fix the problem. Well that alone is something to get mad about because now I have spent around $150.00 having to fix the A/C.

That is a problem right there but let me tell you the one that really has me twisted up. 8/27/05 I had the A/C man come out and fix the unit outside because the air was not cooling inside. He looked at the condenser and saw that a wire actually burned off at the clip and was just hanging there. So what did he do "keep in mind this is a really old unit" he took the wire and clipped off the burnt part of the wire and took the old rusted clip and refastened it without even trying to figure why a wire all of a sudden would burn off the clip. Well as you could guess the wire burnt off again less than a week later, and this time it did not just fall, but fell onto another wire in the condenser and was shorting out the breaker in the box inside. I have a breaker that is actually burned in my box from the breaker of the outside unit throwing sparks inside the box. I saw it myself when my little four year girl said the walls in her room were making some funny noises. I have actual pits on the bus in the box from the breaker for the outside unit shorting out on it. The best part is when the A/C tech who fixed that wire that almost burnt down my house was leaving he gave me his card and the card stated first of all "Master Carpenter". I thought that was strange but again I trusted that Prestige would not send unqualified people to my house.

So I called Prestige to file a claim against the tech they sent to my house and they told me the first time that was not there problem that I need to take care of that myself. I called Prestige again the same day and said no that is your problem because they sub-contracted from you. They said they needed to get a hold to the last A/C tech and verify the story and when they did they would call me back and take care of it. Two days later I have heard nothing from them and so I called Prestige back and told them again what had happened and there response is it is my problem and they would be more than happy to send an electrician out to fix the problem, but they wanted there $50.00 from me.

It has now been four days that I have had what I feel is an unsafe breaker box in my house, and Prestige appearntly could care less. I talked to one of the customer representitives once before and she told me that Prestige is into making a profit. I know that was true because that is what all companies are here for. But for you to tell me that when all I am trying to do is get justice that is insane.

Let me tell you another incident:

I have an electric vent in my attic that did not work, so I called Prestige once again and told them that I had an electric vent in the roof that is for taking the heat out of the attic. I asked if it was covered. The lady said that must be an exhaust fan and that was covered. Well they sent a tech out to fix it and he goes as far as taking it out of the attic before he calls them and says this is a power roof vent. Prestige turns down coverage and I am now out $50.00 because I had to pay the tech. I called Prestige and told them what had happened and they needed to pay me back and they told me that was my problem that I had no idea what the vent was called. I told them I wanted to talk to the Supervisor in charge. This lady told me the same thing that it was my problem I did not tell them what kind of vent it was. She told me that they are not techs and they only go by what the customer tells them. I asked her what is the difference between a power roof vent and an exhaust fan. She states that an exhaust fan is usually mounted on the gable end and a power roof vent is mounted on the roof. I told her that I said it was in the roof so they analyzed it wrong when they sent out the tech. She said it was still my fault. I fought and fought and finally got my money back on that one, but it goes to show you who Prestige is worried about.
