I used Penofin Cedar penetrating stain ($49/gal which was supposed to be the best) and for the first month, was absolutely amazing looking like high quality furniture finish. Over the next 4 months of a relatively dry Ohio summer, all horizontal decking / rails have now turned deep black.
Never, Never, Never use Penofin products...
Vinegar, bleach, power washing are all ineffective as the black has successfully penetrated deep in the wood... Worst product ever...
