Renewal by Andersen: warranty, service requests, cancelling a signed contract and where to complain (checked October 18, 2026)

Renewal by Andersen sells and installs replacement windows and doors. Its Service Request page says: 'Renewal by Andersen service requests on windows and doors purchased and installed by Renewal by Andersen are performed by your local retailer.' Because the page describes work done by local retailers, the company or office that signed your contract and installed your products is the first contact for a repair or warranty claim.

Company channels. The contact page lists administrative offices at 9900 Jamaica Ave S, Cottage Grove, MN 55016 and the number 855-779-0211, and links a 'Maintenance or Repair Request' form at renewalbyandersen.com/support/service-request/. The Warranty page gives 1-866-823-6377 for the installation warranty on Andersen-brand products that Renewal by Andersen installed.

Warranty as the company states it. The Homeowner Warranty page says '20-Year Warranty on Glass and Fibrex Material+ | 2 Years on Professional Installation | 10 Years on Locks, Hinges, and other Components', with the footnote '+20 years on glass for non-coastal products' and 'See limited warranty for details.' It publishes separate limited-warranty PDFs by installation date (on or after June 1, 2024; January 1, 2022 to May 31, 2024; May 1, 2016 to December 31, 2021; on or before April 30, 2016), so read the one that matches your installation date. The Warranty page says 'Our limited warranty is fully transferable' to the next homeowner. For Andersen-brand products bought through Renewal by Andersen, the page says the products are supported 'under separate product warranties through Andersen' and the installation warranty stays with Renewal by Andersen.

Dispute terms in the warranty. The limited-warranty PDF for units installed after June 1, 2024 (Acclaim windows) says the installation is 'warranted for a period of two (2) years from the date of original installation' and contains a Dispute Resolution Process: 'To assert a Dispute, you must first provide Renewal by Andersen with written notice' (a Notice of Dispute form is at renewalbyandersen.com/noticeofdispute), and 'Renewal by Andersen will have 60 days from receipt of your Notice of Dispute to respond to you in writing'. The document states that the process 'includes class-action and jury trial waivers that affect your legal rights', that disputes are to be 'heard and decided solely by the federal or state court judge', and that to opt out you must complete the form at renewalbyandersen.com/optout 'within one year from the original installation date'. Other warranty PDFs may differ; read the one for your installation date.

Cancelling a contract signed at home. The FTC's consumer article 'Buyer's Remorse: The FTC's Cooling-Off Rule May Help' (September 2025) says the rule covers certain sales made at your home and 'also applies when you invite a salesperson to make a presentation in your home'. It says 'Your right to cancel for a full refund lasts until midnight of the third business day after the sale', that the seller has to tell you of the right at the time of sale and give you two cancellation forms and a copy of the contract, and that you should send the cancellation by certified mail postmarked before that deadline. It lists exclusions, including sales made entirely online, by mail or by telephone and sales made to meet an emergency; the list also includes sales 'made after completing negotiations at the seller's permanent place of business, where the seller regularly sells the goods or services you bought'. The article adds that Saturday counts as a business day, and Sundays and federal holidays do not. Whether the rule covers your sale depends on how and where it was made; check your own paperwork and the FTC page.

Written disputes. Keep the contract, quote, order confirmation, photographs and dated emails. If the local office does not resolve the issue, you can contact the company's administrative offices, file a complaint with the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, and contact your state attorney general's consumer-protection office and the state or local contractor-licensing agency where one exists. If the work involved financing, the lender's own dispute process is separate.

Who operates Renewal by Andersen: Renewal by Andersen LLC, a subsidiary of Andersen Corporation

The site's Terms of Use say it is 'provided by Renewal by Andersen LLC' and the footer reads '© 2026 Andersen Corporation'. The D.C. Attorney General's August 21, 2019 release describes 'Renewal by Andersen LLC' as the window-replacement subsidiary of Andersen Corporation, a Minnesota-based manufacturer. The company's About page says it was 'Founded in Minnesota in 1995 as the full-service window and door replacement division of Andersen Corporation', operates 'in more than 100 markets across the U.S. and Canada', and that its windows and entry doors are 'designed and assembled right here in the United States' (company statements).

Local retailers. Local retail offices carry the brand's name. The Service Request page says repairs are 'performed by your local retailer', and the site has an 'Inquire about becoming a Renewal by Andersen retailer' link. A June 30, 2025 letter from the advocacy group Truth in Advertising to the FTC describes the company as having 'seven company-owned locations' and 'more than 100 independently owned "affiliates"'; that is the group's description, and the company's own pages checked on October 18, 2026 did not state how many offices are company-owned or independently owned. Posts in our archive also refer to local operators (for example, a 2012 post names the owner of 'Renewal by Andersen of Greater Philadelphia'). Check the legal name on your own contract to see which entity you contracted with. A January 2023 federal court opinion in a dispute between the brand and former retailers (D.N.M. No. 1:22-cv-00127, Doc. 30) describes 'five Retailer Agreements, pursuant to which Plaintiffs sold and installed window and door products' and says 'Andersen Corporation is the sole member of Defendant Renewal by Andersen LLC' (background drawn from the amended complaint).

Not the same as Andersen Windows. Renewal by Andersen replaces windows with its own Renewal products and also installs Andersen-brand products. Complaints that name only 'Andersen Windows' or 'Andersen Corp' (for example about storm doors or a retail-bought window) concern the manufacturer's products and are not counted on this page unless they name Renewal by Andersen.

Regulator actions: EPA lead-paint order (2023), D.C. Attorney General (2019) and a 2015 New York City settlement with a local retailer

EPA, October 11, 2023. A Consent Agreement and Final Order in In the Matter of Renewal by Andersen, LLC, Docket No. TSCA-05-2024-0004 (EPA Region 5), was filed on October 11, 2023. It identifies the respondent as 'Renewal by Andersen LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company doing business in the State of Ohio'. It says an EPA inspector inspected the respondent's place of business at 17450 Engle Drive, Middleburg Heights, Ohio, on January 8, 2020, and that on ten occasions in 2018 and 2019 the respondent performed or directed window replacements at housing built before 1978. It lists thirteen violations of 40 C.F.R. 745.86(b)(6) (records) and one violation of 40 C.F.R. 745.89(d)(2) (a certified renovator not assigned to one renovation) under the Toxic Substances Control Act, and assesses a civil penalty of $34,044. The respondent 'neither admits nor denies the specific factual allegations and legal conclusions' and admits the jurisdictional allegations. The order concerns the Ohio office's work, not every Renewal by Andersen location.

D.C. Attorney General, August 21, 2019. The Office of the Attorney General announced a settlement with 'Renewal by Andersen LLC' that it said resolved an investigation into allegations that the company excluded nine District ZIP codes, mostly east of the Anacostia River, from its regular service area. Under the settlement the company must pay $50,000 to the District, update its training program on District civil-rights law and 'immediately stop excluding portions of the District from its regular service area'. The release describes the matter as an investigation into allegations; it does not state a finding after trial.

New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, May 12, 2015 (local retailer). A DCA release says the department settled charges with 'Garden State Custom Windows, LLC (d/b/a Renewal by Andersen), a New Jersey-based contractor', over advertisements it ran in the New York Post and Metro New York between September and November 2014 that the release says claimed windows would be 'up to 70 percent more energy efficient without basing it on provable facts' and offered free services without defining the conditions. Under the settlement the company agreed to remove the deceptive language from advertising targeting New Yorkers, comply with City laws and pay a fine. The release names the local retailer, not Renewal by Andersen LLC, which illustrates why the legal name on your contract matters.

Other federal or state actions against Renewal by Andersen LLC were not identified in the sources checked on October 18, 2026; that is not a statement that none exist.

What the record shows: our archive, Trustpilot and BBB (as displayed October 18, 2026)

Our archive. usacomplaints.com has 18 published posts linked to this page, dated 2008 to 2013. They are consumer experiences, positive and negative, about local Renewal by Andersen offices; the writers describe, among other things, price and sales-visit conduct, installation and fit, and follow-up after installation. They are individual accounts that we have not verified, and 18 posts do not describe the experience of the company's customers as a whole.

Trustpilot. The Trustpilot page for renewalbyandersen.com showed 433 reviews and a 1.6 score on October 18, 2026, with a profile claimed in April 2024, 155 reviews in the last 12 months, the notice 'This company hasn't invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative', and the note 'Hasn't replied to negative reviews'. Trustpilot says it does not fact-check reviews. The page covers the brand name across offices.

BBB. A BBB name search for 'Renewal by Andersen' on October 18, 2026 returned 184 results, each a separate listing for a local office with its own address and rating. On the first page of results, 13 listings showed an A+ rating and one showed B+; ratings vary by listing and by result order. Because these are separate listings, we do not combine them or give a single BBB rating.

These sources are not summed or averaged. A rating or review for one office does not describe another.

Lawsuits and public allegations

Telemarketing suit (filed September 10, 2026). The trade publication Door & Window Market reported on October 2, 2026 that Perish v. Renewal by Andersen LLC was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, Hammond Division, with a claim under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Do Not Call rules and a claim under the Indiana Deceptive Consumer Sales Act. The report describes these as the plaintiff's allegations and reports no ruling. We did not independently check the court docket; the case details here rest on that report.

'Made in USA' complaint to the FTC (June 30, 2025). Per its July 1, 2025 press release, Truth in Advertising, Inc. sent the FTC a letter alleging that Renewal by Andersen's 'made in USA' labeling and marketing violates the FTC's Made in USA Labeling Rule. This is an advocacy group's complaint; we have not established whether the FTC took any action. The company's own About page says its windows and entry doors are 'designed and assembled right here in the United States'.

Data-security notice (2023). A copy of a May 12, 2023 notice letter to the Maine Attorney General from counsel for Renewal by Andersen LLC, filed as an exhibit in a federal case in the District of Minnesota (No. 0:23-cv-01886, stamped filed June 21, 2023), says it concerns 'one hundred ninety-five (195) Maine residents' and that 'one of its systems was unsecured between January 2018 and January 19, 2023, and that there was unauthorized access to that system earlier in January 2023'. It lists potentially affected information as 'name, address, Social Security number, banking account and routing number, driver's license number, and credit card number', says 'there has been no indication of any misuse', and says the company offered 24 months of credit monitoring. This is the company's statement to a regulator; a nationwide total of affected people was not seen in a primary source we opened, and we did not review the docket's outcome.
