We purchased a clothes washer from HomeDepot with an extended warranty provided by GE. The washer was a lemon; being repaired 5 times and each time ruining clothing with rust and grease spots. Finally it was replaced by GE in Oct with a Hydrowave, which unbeknown to us never worked correctly. We had just assumed that the washer just didn't do a good job and learned to despise it.in under 2 years...
1) We called GE a month after receiving it. GE sent out a repair person who had to replace the main motor/transmission and main panel since it was shorting out and tripping breakers.
2) Six months later the same problems occurred; GE sent out a repair person who replaced the same motor/transmission. The repair person also ran into the tripping breakers issue. I was never completely satisfied that the electrical issues was fixed, which around water is a real safety problem for my family.
3) Just recently in Dec the motor/transmission was replaced AGAIN! This time the technician also replaced the entire wiring harness.
4) This weekend the washer started making a terrible noise during the spin cycle. We rushed in and turned it off. What we found was a piece of the frame bent inward and the plastic top of the tub being shredded into the clothing or our infant, 2.5 yr, and 5 yr old. This is NOT OK!
5) I've contacted the service plan holder that GE has contracted " Assurance Solutions " and they have no record of the repairs except for the most recent. They refuse to replace the washer at this point.
I am weary of this and just want it resolved so that we may wash our clothing in peace and spend my time on more important matters. The ball in in GE's court... Salvage this relationship or loose another customer and anyone I come in contact with.
