I took my car to west market transmission (located at 1021 pellet ave salinas, ca at the time) in oct at the time I met a person called ceasar who claimed to be the owner of the buissness. I had asked for louie the previous owner whom he said retired. I continued to do buissness with this ceasar character. He told me that it was going to cost me $1600 to do a complete overhaul of my transmission. I agreed. 2 weeks later my car was ready. I picked up my car and immediatly noticed a banging in my transmission when I would put it into drive, I took it back to the shop and left it for a couple of days while they fixed the problem. I picked up my car again and the problem continued a few weeks later. Again I took it back and ceasar was gone. No ceasar, no louie? What can a person do. I drove my car like this since then. On 10/22 my transmission failed again. I take good care of my cars. My transmission should not have failed so soon. I have 2 cars, I use 1 one week and the other the next. I still have my old receipt which has the # that I called 3 years ago. I called the old # and find out that they moved to 537 brunken ave in salinas I had it towed back to west market transmission again ($160) and met louie the owner who I asked for 3 years prior. I told him what had happened 3 years prior. He informed me that this guy ceasar had been his employee back then who had burned alot of people using his shop. He tells me to leave my car there and that he will fix it right this time for no more than $1750. I tell him no! I already paid to have it fixed by his former employee. He agrees to fix it right and negotiate with the price after the job is done, I agree to this. He calls me today 11/10 and informs me that upon opening the transmission they find that no new parts were ever installed in that all the parts were only painted to make them look new and put back in and that all the gears were burned, he tells me that everything was done right this time and to come pick up my car its only going to cost me $1957, I tell him no that his former employee actions are his responsibility but that I will negotiate as we discussed earlier. He tells me that he will keep my car until I pay the money, he denied ever owning the buissness at 1021 pellet ave, that ceasar operated it behind his back. I checked with the public hall of records and found that he was the owner of that shop at that time. Do not trust this guy louie. I will get my car back, I plan on dragging him to court, contacting the better buisness bureau, and consumer advocates.integrity??? He has none!!!
