TransAm Screws their drivers

I have been a TransAm independent contractor for about 6 weeks. They have charged me for so many things that I now owe them money. They do not give me the miles and when I call to complain that I didn't get paid and owe them money, they claim I need to ask for more miles. When I went to CDL training with them, they promote the leasing aspect of their company, so much so that if anyone balks at leasing one of their trucks, they are taken aside and questioned as to why they don't want to lease. Drivers are highly pressured to lease.

I have driven about 17,000 miles fo them and owe them money! I don't even have enough money to buy food. I am staying the night in a town about 100 miles east of my drop point tomorrow. After I drop this load, I have to wait there until Monday at 5 P.M. For my next load. Then I drive to the next destination, which is about 500 miles away, but don't have a drop time till October 18. Today is the 13th. I try to call the dispatchers, but they are not available on weekends and no one cares that I'm not getting enough miles to pay for the truck and eat.

This company needs to be investigated. The high pressure sales pitch to lease the trucks gets new drivers who are not familiar with trucking screwed. I was a Marine and have been having problems getting a job. I go with this company and am promised a very good living. The reality is 180 opposite. Can anyone help me with getting out of the lease? Any suggestions? They claim all I have to do is give two weeks notice to get out of the contract. Does anyone have other experience with this? I gave my notice last night. A guy called me back after that asking why.

I told him. Guess what. Nothing changed. It's a good thing I have family concerned about me who can send me enough money to buy food. If anyone is in this situation and needs immediate cash, WalMart has a service where you can transfer cash to any state (has to be state specific), and any WalMart in that state, and the money is there in 10 minutes. You can do it online, sending the money. The recipient goes into any WalMart (in the state stated), shows ID and a confirmation number, and the cash is handed over. It saved me twice so far.

Any other drivers out there willing to pursue doing something about TransAm's employment tactics?
