Auto Service Centers ripoff, charged for replacement of struts, timing belt that were not done

In 1998 I took my vehicle in for service at Superior Tire. I was told I needed to replace the timing belt and the struts on my car were broken and also needed replacement and I had a broken steering unit that was leaking fluid everywhere following previous service done on my car for oil change and tune-up. My car was smoking as I drove it on the freeway to work for several days and each time I went back to them they said they had no idea what had happened to my car but these were the problems now and the estimated repairs were between $1200 and 1800.00.

I took my car for a 2nd opinion of the struts and timing belt but knew the steering unit on my car was ok as I just had it replaced by the dealership for free as it was a national recall.

I was told the struts weren't broken but it would be a good idea to get the timing belt replaced. The oil problem stemmed from the car being given too much oil when the tune up and oil change were done and the excess oil was drained out.

My boyfriend moved into my house and knew I was planning on getting my car worked on so he took it into Superior Tire not knowing that I really didn't need all this excess work done on the car and having spotted the estimate sheet on my kitchen counter, took the car in to be fixed there.By the time I found out what he'd done and where he took the car (back to Superior) they already had my car apart supposedly and were working on it and I would get it back in a day or two. More than a week or 10 days later I got my car back and was shocked at the bill cause I didn't need the struts replaced or the steering unit. But boyfriend had instructed them to put the parts in the trunk so he could inspect them later. When I picked up the car I went ahead and paid the bill to avoid not getting my car back and when I got home and looked in the trunk for the parts they weren't there. My car is a 95 Dodge Neon bought new with 4 miles on it in February of 1995.

We contacted Superior Tire, many times over this issue, even going to their head office and the Automotive Commissioner and spoke to them about filing a complaint and getting my money back as the work wasn't done and I did not sign the work order authorizing them to do the work but cause my boyfriend did I was left on the hook. For months I tried to get my money back and so did my boyfriend to no avail. And I just found out during the past 3-4 months while other work was being done on the car that my car still had it's original struts, rack and pinion and other parts I have paid to be replaced at different times from different repair shops. I only found out the original parts were still on the car cause this time I took the car to the dealership for repairs and I asked them to look for the original stickers or marks or whatever to determine if the struts were original from factory or had another manufacturers name on them cause they were replaced. Many of the items I had paid Superior Tire to replace or repair were not done. My car is now being fixed at the dealership to the tune of $3500.00
